Amnesty gig,
Well sir, a charity show, born of utter mishap, fulfilled itself in much the same way. We initially canceled because, well weren’t we all going to see Dead Can Dance in the Olympia.. but could we do both, could we do some gig then run around to the Olympia, or go to DCD and then back to tbmc… could this be done? We canceled and went, sorry pal, we never really wanted to do it anyway, but we were guilted back into it with vague stories of radio ads and tens of thousands of posters, flyers etc already printed. We hummed and hawed and then some clever dick realised that the DCD was on the Thursday, not the Tuesday. How we laughed, ha ha ha.
So, we got to the venue in the afternoon, paid Jason to lug all our set upon stage without knowing what was supposed to be going on, soundchecked, and basically waiting around all fucking day for someone to tell us when to go on, to play to a load of volunteers who couldn’t give a fuck and get absolutely nothing in return. Not even a nice bottle of water. It’d give you the hump, if it wasn’t such a chivalrous cause. Can’t remember what.
