[w/ The Redneck Manifesto]
We turned up here with Risteard from Whelans as our sound man. Thank god we did.
The sound was awesome from where we were sitting. To cap it off we played a new one,
Pauline LittleFingers Plays On Lullabies. And we added in the noisey bit at the end (lifted from
Thinker Org’s Belfast.) You really had to be there. The noise was of an splendidness that made
peoples heads explode and underwear turn it’s self inside out. The one instruction Risteard
had was to make the noise louder than the band. No mean feat. After the blood was wiped up the
Rednecks played a stormer of their own.
The TBMC were sweet enough to give us all a complementary brew when we came off the stage.
Ahh, Many’s the gargle was done and a night of debauched ‘dancing’ ensued. Few Cakers
made it into the work the following morning, and nobody dared say a thing.
[Launch gig for Road Relish 7" w/ Damien Frost]
We were OH SO EXCITED about the debut release, even though, funnily, it wasn’t available for the gig. Some courier didn’t drop them down in time or wanted to be paid in raw iridium or something. Americhord played and the Frost were Doobied. Vinnie and some English bloke entertained us with some Bat-Watusi tussling up stairs. i emerged with glass in my hand but that’s rock and roll, kids. Said protagonist started a fight with the bouncer while walking down the stairs. Said protagonist, we heard later, was ejected forcibly for starting fights with everybody. Essex’s finest. Fair play.
